About

Linda Marie Chruscielski Perrin, owner and glass artist

After working for glass blowers from coast to coast in the early 90s, my own studio, Atlantic Art Glass was created.

Happily, I realized the strength of the artistic community in my new home state. Through some encouragement from important local mentors, my late husband helped me build a small glassblowing studio in a construction yard run by some salty fellows. In this spot on the coast of Bar Harbor I spent 8 years developing the artistic work, and I taught myself a spin on a Venetian blown glass bead making technique.

COMMUNITY

Interest in my work grew beyond the tourist market. I began showing in art museum shops, and craft galleries across the country. This recognition and demand allowed me to take the next important step in my career as an artist. In 2005, I was able to purchase a large brick warehouse building in downtown Ellsworth, Maine. It was a dream to build a community around the space, through events, education and exhibits of glass and other fine craft.

WORK

My work is the foundation of it all. I make glass work that is inspired by whimsy, joy, and the beauty of Maine. Sometimes my work has a modernist or animated Dr. Seuss-like quality, other times it has an elegant fluidity expressed though refined traditional glass blowing techniques. In any case, as a master craftsperson I am driven to create works of lasting value.

LIFE

A local mentor once told me Maine was a place where you could "craft your life." As a maker it was a concept I understood, and this idea of practicing and working at my life, ignited a pursuit I took to heart. Here in Maine, in this fantastically inspiring place, glassblowing is what I have chosen to do with my one wild and precious life.
